Gerontologist, CEO and Founder
Dr. Jacqueline Dupont is a Gerontologist. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of San Diego with a B.S. in Behavior Sciences and a minor in Religous Studies. She did her graduate work at USC in Gerontology and at the Geriatric Education Center at the Keck School of Medicine. She did her post-doctoral studies at Ashborne in Oxford, England.
In addition to her gerontological education, she was a researcher at USC and an Assistant Professor, Biology of Aging. Prior to founding the Cottages, Dr. Dupont was a Director of Manor Care Health Care, special care units and also was the Alzheimer’s Director for Country Villa Health Services.

Irvine Cottages has a student internship program in which high school and college students initiate and participate in arts, crafts, games and celebrations with our residents. Students have been selected from: University of Southern California, California State University at Fullerton, JSerra Catholic High School, and Thomas Aquinas College.
Staff Training
Professional continuing education is provided monthly for our caregiving staff by the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County, Home Health and Hospice companies. In addition, our own detailed Cottage Training Program includes classes on:
- Communicating with the Memory-Impaired Person
- Do’s and Don’ts
- Redirection Techniques
- Stage Chart
- Positive “Therapeutic Fibbing”
- Validation Therapy
- Activities – the Key to Keeping Boredom Away
